Background
Romania, though richly blessed by God with plentiful natural resources,
has been cruelly strangled by a repressive government to the point of
economic and spiritual bankruptcy. As a result of the breakdown of
Communism, the most affected are the children ... the orphans. In a
society of exhausted government funds these children suffer
tremendously. The
government has closed most state orphanages, putting them in foster
homes and apartments. Though many spend unsupervised time on the
streets.
For the past several years we have been acting ambassadors to Romania.
Representing the Lord Jesus Christ, we have been working diligently to
farm and provide food for four Christian-run orphanages.
100% of the food we grow is given to the children.
 Agriculture at Matthew’s House will be in its 10th year as of this year.
The land at the farm has been under cultivation and now the weeds have
lessened their grip and the compost from animals and other things
produced by the farm is now going back onto the land in significant
amounts. Agriculture has been a great testimony to Romania about the
love of Christ toward them.
The orchard has over
400 trees growing and beginning to produce fruit. The
original plan for the orchard has now been planted and achieved. There
is an enormous amount of fruit to be realized, through the maintenance
care and pruning of these trees. God wants us to be fruitful, just like
the orchard He wants to achieve all the potential He puts in us.
The orchard and
clover fields are continuing to be pollinated by about 20 families of
bees, who provide honey for us. It is a mutually beneficial system
that God has provided for the farm.
Help us pray for an
efficient canning system for our growing farm products.
Agriculture has been a great testimony to Romania about the love of
Christ toward them.
 But we've longed to extend our ability to help by building a house which
would be used to provide a place for the children to come to and learn a
trade after they leave the orphanages. The career options for
these young people are non-existent. Many make un-wise choices
simply to be able to survive. We are called by God to take these
young people in and teach them how to farm and how to work a specific
trade.
Matthew's House, currently under construction, will provide these
children with a safe, happy environment staffed by caring individuals
called to share the blessings of God. When the house is complete,
we will also be able to invite Christian workers from the USA to come to
Romania and share their time and talents with these young people.
Goals
After almost 20
years of service to the Lord in Romania with non profits established
both in the U.S. and Romania, we are moving forward beyond just the
agricultural aspects.
The completion of the construction of Matthew's House mission
headquarters/domiciliary is even more urgent. We now have the
house under roof, but we need doors, windows, and materials to complete
the interior of the house. This will require finances, prayer and
the material to make this a reality.
We are greatly anticipating the packing and shipping of a container
later this fall. Hopefully, this container will include the
doors and windows for Matthew's House, tools for agriculture to surely
make the farming aspect of Matthew’s House much easier as well as more
efficient, and additional items needed to complete the dwelling.
Also, the container itself will be a useful rodent proof structure to
store grain for animal feed. Pray for the successful delivery of this
container and its wonderful contents.
This is much responsibility and work; more than ever before at this
mission. But by faith, we can see it come to pass. |
